The HVR-M35U supports Sony’s new Native Progressive format recording. The HVR-M35U records and plays back HDV 1080i60, 1080i50, 1080p30, 1080p25, 1080p24, and DV/DVCAM 480i60, 576i50. Like the HVR-M25U, the new HVR-M35U is NTSC / PAL switchable.

The HVR-M35U also offers 4CH audio recording and playback, and can record HDV 4CH audio signals from the i.LINK input. Additionally, the HVR-M35U offers an integral monaural speaker for convenient audio monitoring, capable of playing back a mixed audio signal.

The HVR-M35U also offers various digital interfaces which include i.LINK for DV/DVCAM and HDV I/O, a dual function HD/SD SDI output connector, as well as AES/EBU BNC connectors. TC OUT is also supplied via a BNC connector.

In addition to it’s compact design, other features this new deck shares with the HVR-M25U is a ClearPhoto LCD plus 2.7-inch (viewable area, measured diagonally) 16:9 panel for video monitoring, as well as support of both mini and standard size video tape cassettes.

The HVR-M35U also incorporates the Duplicate Plus feature for operational convenience similar to that offered in the HVR-M25U, with the added integration of the new Native Progressive recording formats. Like the HVR-M25U, the new HVR-M35U also offers 1080i to 720p conversion capabilities (through the analog component and SDI outputs only), as well as HD to SD downconversion.

The deck can play back both NTSC/PAL signals, as well as 720p. The unit records Sony’s 1080i as well as DV and DVCAM. High definition can be recorded with either Mini DV tapes or the larger standard size cassettes for record times up to 276 minutes in HDV and DV mode. The HVR-M25U can output to High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), which supports an uncompressed signal for unmatched image quality. Additional features include advanced time code settings, assignable buttons, and a front mounted 2.5″ LCD.

Sony HVR-1500A is an HDV source feeder/recorder positioned at the top of the Sony HDV Series. Inheriting the design concept of the market-acclaimed DSR-1500A, the HVR-1500A offers the same convenient features that Professional users demand, such as quick mechanical response,multi-format DV playback, and a rich set of professional video/audio interfaces ranging from Analog to Digital SDI and AES/EBU. The HVR-1500A also offers HD-SDI input/output and RS-422A control capabilities, bridging HDV source footage and assets with high-end HD formats and HD Editing equipment. The Sony J-H3 is a compact video player for HDCAM high definition recorded video tapes. This unit is a playback only model. The deck can play-back just about any HD interlaced and progressive scan format recording including 24, 25 and 30 frame. In fact, this model can be used with Cine Alta 24/720p HDCAM recorded elements. Another deck in this series, the J-H1 covers all those progressive and interlaced capture formats except the 24-frame format. The deck has both analog and digital outputs and circuitry for down conversion to standard definition including DVCAM

  • Sony Cine Alta System Compatible – There are multiple HDCAM video formats in use today and the J-H3 plays back almost every one of them. The featured advantage of this particular machine is that it can be used as a player for tapes recorded on the HDCAM Cine Alta cameras. It was designed to play 24-frame 720p video, arguably the highest quality and most film-like format. The other HD systems include 59.94i (60i), 50i, 25p and 29.97p (30p).
  • Analog and Digital Outputs – The J-H3 comes equipped with a digital single BNC connector for both high definition and standard definition SDI output. AES-EBU digital audio is inbedded in the HD signal. A 3-BNC connection outputs both analog HD and standard component video. Additionally the deck down-converts high definition video signals to NTSC or PAL system video.
  • Tape Logging Software via RS-232C – The J-H3 playback machine can be an efficient pre-edit logging machine when coupled with JZ-1 software on a PC (and capture card) that has RS-232C control. The log data including in and out points can be recorded along with simple comments regarding the scene. A story-board feature is present in the software package to assemble a sequence of logged scenes into a basic EDL for edit data export.

The Sony SRW-5500 is a HDCAM SR/HDCAM dual format recorder. It is ideal for use as for full-bandwidth, multi-frame rate, high definition mastering VTR, with HDCAM and optional Digital Betacam playback compatibility.

The SRW-5500 is Sony’s first dual format recorder. Switchable between Sony’s HDCAM and HDCAM SR record formats, this new VTR provides an ideal solution for professionals requiring multi-format flexibility. With the additional ability to simultaneously produce HD and SD output, as well as playback and up-convert Digital Betacam recording, the SRW-5500 is a bridge to the future. Capable of recording 23.98/24/25/29.97/30PsF, 1080/50i/59.94/60i, and 720/59.94P, the SRW-5500 was created to meet all common worldwide delivery requirements. The HDCAM SR format is capable of recording the gamut of HD frame/line rates in both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats using the highly efficient MPEG-4 Studio Profile compression scheme. The SRW-5500 records HDCAM SR format video at 440 Mbps, 10 bit Log or linear, at 2.7:1 compression ratio in 4:2:2, and 4.2:1 compression ratio for 4:4:4. It can also record 12 channels of audio at 24-bit per sample resolution. HDCAM format recording offers the standard 4 channels of uncompressed audio. The optional HKSR-5001 Format Converter provides 3/2 pull down sequence for conversion of 23.98 or 24 fps recordings to 59.94 interlaced output. It also provides conversion of 1080 to 720/59.94P, and 720P to 1080. With the optional HKSR-5002 Digital Betacam decoder board, Digital Betacam tapes can be played back and up converted to either 1080i or 720/59.94P formats. The optional HKSR-5003 interface board allows for full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB recording, via dual link HD SDI. RGB 4:4:4 recordings can be internally converted to 4:2:2 output via the HKSR 5001 format conversion board in real-time during record or playback.
